🌎🕊️ UNMOC 2026 OPENING CEREMONY AT THE ECUADOR PEACE MISSIONS SCHOOL (UEMPE)🕊️🌎

Today, the Ecuador Peace Missions School (UEMPE) officially inaugurated a new edition of the United Nations Military Observers Course (UNMOC), one of the most important training programs for personnel preparing to serve in United Nations Peace Operations.

The opening ceremony was honored by the presence of Brigadier General José Ignacio Fiallo Vásquez, President of the Latin American Association of Peacekeeping Training Centers (ALCOPAZ), whose attendance highlighted the importance of international cooperation and regional commitment to excellence in peacekeeping training.

This edition brings together 18 military participants, including 12 international students from 9 friendly nations and 6 Ecuadorian participants, further strengthening the multinational and intercultural character that defines multidimensional peace operations.

Additionally, as part of efforts to strengthen civil-military cooperation and promote awareness of United Nations principles, students from the International Relations and Law faculties of the Universidad de Las Américas are participating in the Core Pre-deployment Training Materials (CPTM) module. Through this program, they will gain fundamental knowledge of the United Nations system, peace operations, protection of civilians, human rights, and international cooperation.

The implementation of this course reaffirms UEMPE’s commitment to providing highly professional training based on international standards and globally recognized methodologies. It contributes to strengthening the capabilities of participating countries to support United Nations efforts in maintaining international peace and security.

Through initiatives such as UNMOC, Ecuador continues to consolidate its position as a regional leader in peacekeeping training, fostering multinational cooperation, the exchange of experiences, and the development of capacities that contribute to a safer, more stable world committed to the principles and values of the United Nations.
